Choosing LED Wall Pixel Pitch: P2.6, P3.9 or P4.8 for Your Event

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between LED pixels. Smaller numbers mean a sharper image up close and a higher price. Most specification arguments come down to one variable: how close is your nearest viewer.

A workable guide is one metre of minimum viewing distance per millimetre of pitch. P2.6 looks clean from about 2.6 metres, P4.8 from about five metres.

In a ballroom where the front table sits three metres from the screen, P4.8 will look coarse to your most important guests.

Outdoor panels trade pitch for brightness and weather sealing. In Nairobi daylight you need high-nit outdoor panels regardless of pitch, or the content simply disappears.

Indoors, excessive brightness is its own problem: an LED wall running too hot for the room ruins camera exposure and tires the audience.

Dense slides with small text and spreadsheets need finer pitch. Motion graphics, brand loops and camera feeds tolerate a coarser wall.

Ask presenters for their deck early; a 10-point font on a P4.8 wall is a design problem, not a screen problem.

Walls are built from panels, so your final ratio is a multiple of panel dimensions. Decide the ratio before slide templates go out, then issue the exact pixel canvas to designers and presenters.
