Outdoor events remove every acoustic and lighting assumption you rely on indoors. Kenyan conditions add strong equatorial sun and a rainy season that arrives on schedule at the worst hour.
Here is how the AV design changes when the roof comes off.
Screens you can actually see
Projection is not viable in daylight. Outdoor-rated high-brightness LED is the only reliable option before dusk, oriented away from direct sun where possible.
Plan the audience's sightline against the sun's position at the actual programme hour, not at the site visit hour.
Weather protection is structural
IP-rated fixtures, covered technical positions, raised cable runs, weighted or staked structures and a rain plan that can be triggered by a named decision-maker at a stated time.
Wind loading on banners and LED walls is the risk people underestimate; a solid backdrop is effectively a sail.
Sound without walls
Outdoors there is no reflected energy, so coverage comes from distributed delay positions rather than volume at the stage. Evening wind shifts can move coverage noticeably after sunset.
Amplified outdoor sound also brings NEMA noise limits and neighbour considerations, so we plan levels and cut-off times deliberately.
Power and ground conditions
Generators sited downwind and away from the audience, RCD-protected distribution, and matting over soft ground for both cable safety and load-in vehicles.
